NEW MOWASAT HOSPITAL

ACHIEVES ACCREDITATION

FROM CANADIAN COUNCIL on HEALTH SERVICES ACCREDITATION

Kuwait, 28th of February 2008 -- New Mowasat Hospital has earned accreditation from Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation, the worldwide leader in raising the bar for quality of health care.

The Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation on-site evaluation of New Mowasat Hospital occurred in January 2008 and was conducted by a team of international health care experts, including a doctor, nurse and administrator.

“The community should be proud that New Mowasat Hospital has made a commitment to quality and safety” says, Gille Lanteigne, Executive Vice-President.  Nauman S. Sehgal, the Chief Operating Officer of New Mowasat Hospital said, “We sought accreditation because we want to provide the best care possible for our patients. Earning accreditation from Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation is another step toward excellence.”

Sehgal notes that accreditation is attainable only through collaboration among all organization staff members. “Providing high quality care is a team effort and one that gives employees a feeling of prestige to work in an accredited organization.”

Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation is dedicated to improving the quality of health care through voluntary accreditation. Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation’s uniform, high standards for patient care and safety are designed to be adaptable to local needs, thus accommodating legal, religious and cultural factors within a country.

Standards focus on the areas that most directly impact patient care. These include access to care, assessment of patients, infection control, patient and family rights, and education. Standards also address facility management and safety, staff qualifications, quality improvement, organizational leadership, and management of information.

Sehgal further indicated, “This CCHSA accreditation is just one of many quality-based programs at New Mowasat.  Others include our Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points accreditation for our dietary services (HACCP) and our ongoing focus on Customer Service Quality during 2008.  All that we do is meant to enhance the good experience of our patients while we provide the best possible healthcare to them.”
